Early Reviews and Numbers
I thought I'd pop a fast update with some early reviews.
From PAGES Magazine: "That a significant portion of BLACK ORDER is based on fact is a fascinating preomise, but what makes the novel work so well is its clever storytelling. One of the nicest touches is that Rollins made room for some of his Sigma Force characters to develop personally while they're out saving the world. The suspenseful story with a human face makes BLACK ORDER a thriller with mainstream appeal."
From the San Francisco Chronicle: "...edge-of-your-seat excitement...a hallmark of this entertaining series. It also allows Rollins to delve into a few interesting ideas, such as the nature of evolution, intelligent design, and the strange field of quantum mechanics. As usual, he keeps the brainy bits light enough to prevent the story from getting sidetracked, but also raises enough questions to make readers pause from time to time to consider assorted implications. It's a good mix....satisfyingly slam-bang and cinematic enough to make you wonder why no one's bought Sigma Force to the big screen."
Yeah, why is that ?!?
Okay, while that's all well and good, I wanted to also thank all those who've posted early reviews on Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com. Most appreciated...because no matter what a paper or magazine might write, it boils down to what a reader thinks of the book. And I value that more than anything, whether posted on a website, told to a friend, or emailed off to me.
As such, I wanted to report here that I've learned that BLACK ORDER will debut on the New York Times at the #7 spot. As those who've been following my books from the beginning know, it's been a slow and steady climb to this position: from strange caverns under Antarctica, to lost Incan ruins in Peru, to mysteries in the jungles of the Amazon. I appreciate everyone who has emailed, chatted, shook hands with me over these past eight years. It's been a pleasure, and I look forward to continuing the friendships long into the future. Thanks to everyone for all the support...both in the past and in the future!
all the best, Jim
