Back with a New Book

After burying myself for the past three months to finish the next Sigma book, I've finally come out of self-imposed exile to update the news here.

First, YES, the book is completed. Its official title is THE JUDAS STRAIN. And here is a first rendition of the cover (though details may change). I will be posting the prologue to this book just after the holidays! I noticed yesterday that Amazon.com is already accepting pre-orders, though the book will not be hitting shelves until June 26th. But before that date, there will be contests and many tantalizing bits of news on this book and other projects.

As to the paperback release of BLACK ORDER, it will be hitting shelves on May 29th.

Onto a few housekeeping matters, I've received a few requests to post the list of the books in the order of their publication and to delineate which are Sigma books. So here they are:

SUBTERRANEAN (1999)
EXCAVATION (2000)
DEEP FATHOM (2001)
AMAZONIA (2002)
ICE HUNT (2003)
SANDSTORM (2004): and while this is not "officially" a Sigma book, it does introduce Painter Crowe for the first time.
MAP OF BONES (2005): Sigma Book #1
BLACK ORDER (2006): Sigma Book #2
THE JUDAS STRAIN (2007): Sigma Book #3

All the earlier books are stand-alone thrillers and can be read in any order. The Sigma Books can also be read in any order as each book has a self-contained story, but for a full nuance of the characters, reading the books in order might be best, but certainly not essential.

Another question I often get asked is: Can you still get hardback editions to the first three books (Subterranean, Excavation, Deep Fathom)? Unfortunately the answer is NO. Those first three books were mass market paperback originals, so except for foreign editions, there are no hardbacks of these novels.

And speaking of paperbacks, you'll soon be seeing that all the paperbacks, from Subterranean through Sandstorn, have NEW covers. Harpercollins is re-releasing the set with wonderful coordinated artwork.

Moving onto a more personal note, I wanted to again thank everyone who has emailed me with their generous notes and commentaries. Keep them coming! Due to the writing schedule of late (along with a short trip for research), I apologize if my responses to your emails have been a bit slow of late.

Lastly, I wanted to revive a common feature of these postings:

My favorite movie of the past month: THE PRESTIGE...and almost a companion movie, THE ILLUSIONIST (Both films are about turn-of-the century magicians.) Great acting, great stories.

My favorite book of the past month: WORLD WAR Z....a brilliant apocalyptic tale....with zombies (and that's never wrong).

Until next time...stay tuned here at the website for a flood of new features and excitement over the next months.

All the best, Jim

I just finished reading Judas Strain and enjoyed it. Now I am reading The Venetian Betrayal by Steve Berry and came across a character from your book. Painter Crowe, the head of Sigma is mentioned in the Venetian Betrayal. Since this is not your book, how can this be. Please explain. Looking forward to your next book. J. Block
