&q

Sorry I've been quiet on the news department for the last couple weeks. Just spending some down time after the tour: catching up on sleep, bills, and writing. But I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who helped make this release so wonderful. Everyone who bought the book, who I met on tour, who posted comments and reviews, and all those who e-mailed, facebooked (is that a word?), or twittered. THANKS! Touring can be grueling at times, but there is nothing better than meeting old friends and new on the road.

Unfortunately I can only reach a certain number of cities per summer. So this time I thought for this tour, I'd have one of my book talks professionally documented. So for those who missed me on the road, I thought I'd post this virtual signing.

You can find it in the Media area of the site. Click Here or copy and paste the following link into your Internet web browser: http://www.jamesrollins.com/media/virtual_signings.

I haven't had a chance to really go through all my photos from the road. But there is one picture that is truly worth a thousand words. How many times do you get a chance to have Clive Cussler mugging for a camera holding a poster of your book?

Clive Cussler holding James Rollins The Doomsday Key promotional poster

Story behind this photo: This was taken during a joint event in Phoenix hosted by Poisoned Pen Bookstore. It was a three author event, featuring Clive, me, and Brent Ghelfi (author of the outstanding novel, Volk's Game). During the event, while on stage, I saw Clive was leaning on my poster. I secretly reached into my pocket for my iPhone to take a picture of it--but found my pocket was empty. My phone was gone! After a moment of panic, I ran through my head where I might have lost it. Then realized it probably slipped out of my pocket on the ride over. Brent and his wife were kind enough to play chauffeur. After the event, the phone was found in their car, but after the event, I happened to mention to Brent how I missed that photo op. Well, secretly Brent's wife got Clive to re-enact that pose--and then some! I grew up reading Clive. He's one of the reasons I write. So to have this photo is a treasure.

Well that's about all I have here!

Til next time,

Jim

I recently found your books in my local library - i had been getting frustrated at a lack of new good finds- when one of your bookcovers caught my eye, the black order I absolutely loved everything the pace of the plot and interweaving of the stories just so...you have quickly become a beloved author I am so glad that you have the support of the people around you to keep you going and writing such (cant think of which word would properly suffice) all around great stories... Have you ever read any books by L. E. Modesett or Terry Pratchett?

Jim! I love that photo! You had better get that one framed. That's an honored trophy all to itself. My sister and I love both yours and Clive's novels. Wow. And to see a photo of you two during a book signing is awesome. By the way....you're quite popular up in Banff, Alberta Canada, from what my sister told me while on her trip up there. She found The Last Oracle, which she bought as well. :D Best Wishes Forever! Julia

I have read and loved all of James Rollins books and completely enjoyed them all. However I must say that without a doubt the Doomsday Key is my all time favorite. I couldn't put it down. Every page was exceptional and forced me to read just one more page before I put the book down resulting in my first reading taking place in one day. I enjoyed the book as much the second time around as the first. Thank you - this is an incredible story, beautifully written, and totally worthy of a James Rollin novel.

Just had to tell you that the kids and I LOVED your Jake Ransom novel!!! Where were you when I was little? That's the kind of books I loved! The kids are totally hooked and can't wait for the next one! Now I'm starting on the Doomsday Key. I'm saving it for the weekend so I don't have to stop reading! I can never put your books down!

I just picked up (and ironically finished) the Last Oracle. Excellent novel as always. The sigma series is on the list of "must have" books for sure. I'm just curious, how long after the hard copy release to the mass market paperbacks come out? I travel a lot with my job and always bring a book or two. The trouble is, I can't bring a hardcover because of the space constraints! Anyway, excellent novel, I can't wait to get the Doomsday Key and I look forward to MANY MORE sigma series novels!!!

Hi Jim, I have all your Sigma novels, and three of the others. Absolutely fantastic! I Could not wait for Doomsday Key to come, but it did and was worth the wait. Soooo, when's the next one coming? :) I guess I will have to pass the time re-reading the series, in order this time! Cheers!

Jim, I'm loving that you have so many books coming out, but 3 a year is about all I can handle from one author. Don't go all Pattersonian on us! LOL

Name: Lara Date: 2009-09-04

James, that picture is great!!!! Some of my friends were at the Poisoned Pen that day. :) I found your book in English here. I can't wait to meet you in San Diego. Lara
