Altar of Eden Hits Stands Today!
Tuesday, December 29, 2009
Yep, the book is out today. The first "veterinary thriller." Now I no longer have to answer the question I use to get all the time from my clients at the hospital: "Dr. Jim, you're a veterinarian, so why don't you ever write about one?" Several of those clients were also readers and were probably wondering WHY they continued to bring their cherished pets to someone so obsessed with blood and mayhem. Of course, this particular story isn't going to necessarily make them any less concerned. I hope you enjoy the results!

For more details behind the book, check out the posted Q&A here.
Lastly, as we head into the New Year, I was informed today that last summer's Sigma book, The Doomsday Key, was picked for another year-end "best books" list. This time in The Providence Journal. Here's a link for those that are looking for the entire list. Click here.
Okay, now I must hit the treadmill at the gym...and avoid those last few cookies in the kitchen.
Jim

Ok the blood & mayhem comment is just funny. As a fellow veterinary service worker I ask "is there any part of veterinary medicine that doesn't involve blood & mayhem?".

Hey, some more of that well-deserved recognition doesn't hurt! I'm still a book behind, but the upside is, after I read the Doomsday Key, I won't have to forlornly wait for the next one. Everybody wins!

I read your sneak pick you have posted and was so engrossed, I lost track of time and was almost late to work. I look forward to finding out what will happen next and losing myself in yet another of your books. I have been a fan since I discovered Deep Fathom years ago. Thank you far all the grand adventures you take us on.

Hey Jim! Here's loyalty as an example.... I went out in Portland's worst UNEXPECTED snow storm of the century to finally get out and purchase Doomsday Key and Alter of Eden. But to find the shelves empty at Barnes and Noble of Doomsday Key, so I grabbed the very last one of Alter of Eden. The Doomsday Key had to be ordered..but .this shows how much in demand all your books really are! Best Luck Ever in 2010! Julia

The only complaint I have is that your books always seem too short! I actually did have a problem with my Kindle copy - some strange symbols showed up on the pages in Chapter 24 thru 29. At first I actually thought they were part of the book! Anybody else have this problem?

Been reading your books ever since I found a copy of "The Judas Strain" left behind on a plane. Real page turner, made the flight pass very quickly. Thoroughly enjoy they artful way you weave history, geography, various aspects of sciencetific research and fiction. Doomsday key was good too. Your Sigma characters are modern day renaisance me, brain and brawn. Love the mixture. Altar of Eden is next on my reading list!

So when I finally came up for air, I was very pleased to see that your latest, The Altar of Eden is available. I've definitely been inspired by your work and I'll soon see if I have what it takes to stomp with the big dogs. Best, Lee
