2009 MARCH MADNESS WINNER: THE JUDAS STRAIN

Following a last knockdown-drag out fight in the final rounds, Judas Strain has come out the winner of HarperCollins Canada’s March Madness competition. The book is now officially the 2009 Champion in the Hall of Fame (alongside the 2008 winner Dennis Lehane’s Mystic River).
Now the prize is just bragging rights, but I darn well know all the credit and those ‘braggin rights’ go to YOU all out there and not the book. While the contest has been grueling, I’ve loved hearing from everyone over these past weeks. So many stories have filtered through various sites: of late-night voting, of stealing company time to vote on-line during work hours, of spreading the word far and wide, but mostly of voting over and over and over again. It feels like we’ve all been in the trenches together these past weeks, grown closer together because of it. That newfound camaraderie was a prize worth far more than any championship.
So I owe you all a huge THANKS… (and a box of Band-Aids for those bloody voting fingers). It’s been overwhelming to witness such an ardent outpouring of support. I’m really grateful and humbled by it all.
And I would be remiss not to pass on a nod of appreciation to Kim Harrison’s fans (and her book For a Few Demons More). As you all know, they were fierce competitors, bringing the battle down to the final hours, to the final ballots. It was tooth-and-nail most of these past two weeks (I fear Florida may demand a recount). The victory was a so close, in fact, that EACH and EVERY vote truly did matter.
So again THANKS to each and every one of you!
In the end, I guess it just proves that “demons” can be slayed. So to all my demon-slayers out there, a final and heartfelt thank-you!

Keep the series going...and whatever else you have planned for future novels.
