The Last Oracle Now Available in Paperback!
Tuesday, May 26, 2009

As I mentioned in the previous post, THE LAST ORACLE hits stands today! So I'll keep this short. For those that haven't read it yet, I hope you enjoy the story. It introduces a character I had a great time writing: Marta, an extraordinary chimpanzee. Of course, that might just be the veterinarian in me. This novel also deals with autism and theories about autistic savants.

By the way, I'll also be doing a radio tour all day Tuesday, so keep an ear out for me!
Also on the Jake Ransom front, another nice couple reviews came in.
From Sacramento Book Review:
Bestselling author James Rollins kicks off a great children’s book series with Jake Ransom and the Skull King’s Shadow, which is a combination of adventurous Indiana Jones with some fascinating history of the different cultures of the world. Focusing on the Mayan people and their culture in this first book, the rest of the series promises to be just as action-packed and educational. Jake Ransom and the Skull King’s Shadow is a book to be enjoyed by anyone of any age. - Reviewed by Alex C. Telander
From Publishe rs Weekly:
This exciting time-travel adventure opens three years after Jake Ransom’s archeologist parents have disappeared in the Yucatán, leaving him and his sister, Kady, nothing but their journals and a Mayan coin, broken in half. ... In this series opener, Rollins (The Last Oracle) presents a wide range of interesting historical information while telling a rollicking good story that should please a wide range of readers—and maybe even some of his adult fans.
Lastly, those who follow me on Twitter know I went and saw Terminator Salvation this past week (along with a long hike on Saturday). My verdict on the movie: I loved the first 3/4 of the movie, thought it was a fantastic blend of the apocalyptic world of movies like The Road Warrior combined with the Terminator mythos. Really great stuff. But the last 1/4 of the film did not match that energy or creativity. Still, all in all, the movie is well worth seeing on the biggest screen you can find.
Up next: Over the next few weeks, I'll be bringing more details about the summer's big Sigma book, THE DOOMSDAY KEY. Until then, enjoy the start of summer!
